This young adult smile transformation is one we are smiling about! When this patient came in for their initial consultation (complimentary, by the way!) their bite was off on the right side nearly a 1/2 a tooth and nearly a whole tooth on the left side – this is what was contributing to the overjet the patient was experiencing in which her upper front teeth were extending beyond her lower front teeth (‘jetting’ out – ‘overjet’). Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex gave this patient the option of either @Invisalign or traditional braces.
The patient opted for Invisalign prescribed by the doctors with the understanding that she would need to be extremely compliant with her aligner and elastic wear in order to get ideal correction for her bite. In addition to improving the bite coordination, there were goals of consolidating spacing and protecting her teeth from excessive wear in the future!
This young adult had an initial consultation with our doctors in 2019 to decide if early intervention would be recommended to allow her upper front tooth to erupt properly. In her case, our orthodontists recommended waiting for comprehensive treatment and to allow her to continue to grow. A palate expander could be used in coordination with braces or Invisalign but for the time being, the plan was to wait.
Fast forward two years and this patient began Invisalign treatment with us. Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex mapped out her treatment plan to allow her teeth to continue erupting in an ideal position. While her bite was off just a bit, it was causing her top teeth to be too far forward – something that would be corrected during treatment. And now, check out her smile! We love this transformation.
This patient came to see us for a second opinion because he wanted to avoid a surgical treatment plan. While Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex may recommend surgery in certain situations, during his consultation at Mellion Orthodontics it was recommended that he opt for a non-surgical approach using Invisalign to consolidate the spacing on the bottom, eliminate crowding and properly align his bite. Our doctors prescribed Invisalign and advised the patient that they might want to use a palate expander to ensure proper width across his upper arch. This patient did a great job of wearing his aligners and elastics as prescribed and finished his treatment in less than 18 months!
This patient did a great job of wearing his aligners and elastics as prescribed and finished his treatment in less than 18 months! Pursuing orthodontic treatment enabled this patient to protect his teeth against excessive wear (as you can see in his ‘before’ photo, his front teeth were in a position that could cause chips and wear!) and give him the smile he wanted without surgery! We love when a (treatment) plan comes together!
Often times adults are hesitant to pursue orthodontic treatment; and even more so to share their transformation with others. But we applaud all the adults pursuing orthodontic treatment – whether it’s to improve or protect the health of your teeth and your smile, or purely cosmetic reasons! Today’s transformation story included goals of eliminating a crossbite and crowding, correcting alignment, and establishing improved bite relationship (ideal occlusion).
The plan was to use Invisalign to straighten and move the teeth outward to reduce crowding and improve alignment. The doctors discussed the use of a TAD (temporary anchorage device) supported palate expander if ideal positioning could not be achieved but Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex mapped out the tooth movement precisely when creating the Invisalign prescription….
And then the magic happened! This patient did a great job wearing their Invisalign aligners and prescribed elastics throughout treatment to give him a great end result! Look at the before and after – did you know Invisalign could do this in the hands of the right doctor?! Amazing!
Thank you, Jen, for sharing such a thoughtful review of your experience with us as a top Invisalign provider, as well as your before & after photos of your treatment. Jen is one of HUNDREDS of Mellion Orthodontics patients who are currently choosing to limit their in-office visits and utilize DentalMonitoring so that our doctors can monitor their treatment remotely! Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex offer this option to Invisalign patients to allow more flexibility and convenience to our patients – they know how precious your time is!
AND it helps your treatment stay on track with weekly check-ins to keep you accountable on your aligner wear! AND in Jen’s particular case, she was treated using Invisalign. Often times, patients whose teeth are in a similar position to Jen’s are told that Invisalign cannot be used BUT Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex have extensive experience making Invisalign work for even the most complicated cases! They have treated over 3,000 patients using Invisalign! Ready to have your own radical smile transformation? We’re here for you! Call or text to set up your complimentary consultation!
This is a case we were excited for as surgical cases are among the most dramatic transformations! This patient came to us after seeing another provider who advised that Invisalign was not an option when paired with jaw surgery. The patient wanted to correct his underbite (his bottom teeth extend beyond his upper teeth) and crossbite. While the patient was presented with a non-surgical option, ultimately the best outcome would be through surgery so the patient decided to move forward. We are glad he gave us the opportunity to show him what could be done! Dr. Zach and Dr. Alex Mellion started treating this patient with Invisalign to level and align and coordinate his arches for surgery.
